Arc Designs is Hiring! The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing effective and efficient day-to-day IT support to users. The Network Engineer will work closely with the IT Director to manage the network resources/infrastructure, servers and users. Duties will include: to identify, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve computer software/hardware related issues. Position is responsible to coordinate, lead, and perform installation and configuration of LAN/WAN infrastructures, routers, servers, switches, UPS, firewalls, VPN concentrators, and IP telephony installation projects. Candidate must be able to document network layout and design. The Network Engineer will be required to be on call and respond to client network outages effectively as needed, after hours and weekends, as well as assist team members with projects as needed.

 

Essential Functions

This position requires engaging with multiple clients and different office setups while maintaining documentation for each client network. The ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously will be needed. Must be able to solve problems on your own while dealing with clients by phone, email and in person.

  • Installation and configuration of new servers and user workstations

  • Perform and manage regular backups for server and work stations

  • Provide basic LAN management, troubleshooting and helpdesk support.

  • Investigate user problems, identify source, determine possible solutions, test solutions, implement corrections.

  • Administer User accounts (add, change, configure).

  • Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, maintain file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems.

  • Maintain site licenses for department/organization.

  • Plan and implement network security, including administering firewalls, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, and file system integrity.

  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions.

  • Establish and perform maintenance programs following company standards.

  • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.

  • Maintain confidentiality with information being processed, stored or accessed.

  • Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.

  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ Years of previous work experience as a Networking Engineer required

  • CompTIA's A+, Network+ Required; Security+ preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Environments:

    • 3+ Years’ experience with Microsoft Active Directory; Linux knowledge is a plus

    • 3+ Years’ experience with Microsoft Server technologies

    • 2+ Years’ experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud migrations.

    • Proficiency in Windows Desktop Operating Systems & O365

  • 3+ Years’ experience with managing FireWalls with UTM technology

  • Proficiency with L2/L3 Switching products.

  • Proficiency with Virtualizations technologies (Hyper-V, VMware, Virtual Box)

  • 3+ Years’ experience with VPN technologies

  • 5+ Years’ experience with Backup technologies and Imaging

  • Ability to assess a company or organization’s network and computer system needs.

  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.

  • Solid understanding of legacy Telephony (POTS), DSL and T1 Circuits

  • Ability to creating and implement network security measures.

  • Dealing with escalated network support issues.

  • Collect and analyze data to optimize performance.

  • Familiar with VoIP technology and QoS

  • Knowledge of SQL (or equivalent) is a plus

  • Knowledge of CMS solutions a plus

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (or related field), or equivalent work experience

  • Vendor certifications (Cisco, Fortinet, SonicWall, Microsoft) preferred but not required

  • System administrator: 3 years (Preferred)

  • IT Project Management: 3 years (Preferred)

  • Traveling is required (within the state of CA and NV when necessary).

  • Must receive a satisfactory response of background checks and employment verification.

  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to work after hours, and weekends, as needed.

  • Full English Proficiency

  • Familiarity with network analysis tools.

  • Disciplined to work independently on projects; with ability to work in teams

  • Travel up to 25%
